Cyrtophora hirta L. Koch, 1872 Russian Tent Spider

This spider is usually recognised by its cone-shaped tent web. It can be found in dry sclerophyl forests, often with large numbers of individual webs quite close to each other. Males grow to about 5 mm. Females to about 9mm. Cyrtophora parnasia is very similar, perhaps with less obvious tent structures and somewhat smaller.

Female juvenile, body length 5mm
