Phycosoma sp. (ex Dipoena)

Mascord in his 1980 field guide shows a male with a body length about 2mm as Dipoena sp. He writes that these spiders prey almost exclusively on small ants in low shrubs and that the scant web is only a few strands. He records the female as being larger, about 3-4mm, having a more globular abdomen and lacking the high carapace of the male.

Collected mid June 2009 on the northern side of the junction of Fish and Enoggera Creeks, Walton Bridge Reserve, The Gap. This specimen about 1mm body length.
