Dolomedes spp. Australian Water Spiders

Dolomedes spp. have been record in coastal and hinterland areas of eastern Australia from Queensland to Tasmania. As Australian Pisaurids are being revised by Robert Raven at Queensland Museum, until this review is complete it will be difficult to correctly identify many Dolomedes species. Most are relatively large water spiders able to stay submerged by means of trapped air bubbles. Species recorded for Australia include D. albicomus L. Koch, 1867 D. eberhardarum Strand, 1919 D. facetus L. Koch, 1876 D. flaminius L. Koch, 1867 D. habilis Hogg, 1905 D. instabilis L. Koch, 1876 D. stilatus Karsch, 1878.
