Habronestes hunti Baehr, 2003 An Ant Spider

Sometimes called the 9 spotted Ant spider this attractive spider, body length about 9mm males, females a little larger, can be seen on dry eucalypt hillsides in South East Queensland and throughout similar environment across Australian sub-tropical and tropical areas. The cephalothorax is uniformly black with the characteristic eye pattern of the Zodariidae, being a ring of 6 eyes encircling a larger pair of eyes. The abdomen has a pattern of 3 bright yellow spots on each side on the front of the abdomen, followed by three less distinct marks on the centre of the rear of the abdomen. There are another two small yellow dots on the front edge of the abdomen.
