Opopaea sown Baehr, 2011 SOWN's Opopaea

This species is found in leaf litter of rainforest in South East Queensland.The specific name is in honour of Save Our Waterways Now Inc (also known as SOWN) a community organisation working to restore the habitats of creeks and waterways in the catchments of Enoggera, Ithaca and Fish Creeks in Brisbane's north and west. As a Goblin Spider it belongs to a diverse group of Australian ground spiders, recognised by their six eyes and their dark red-brown scutae, or clamshell styled abdomen. The genus Opopaea has a club-shaped palpal patella and a cymbium fused to the bulb unique for this genus. ♀ 1.15mm ♂ 1.12mm
